Personal Bio

Sean likes cars… and chocolate chip cookies. He is number 4 of 11 kids and absolutely loves people and cultures. Playing is a favorite pass time of his, especially outdoors and with others. He enjoys tinkering on random projects and learning new things. He likes to mix a bit of adventure with a somewhat reliable lifestyle and rather enjoys new adventures in his work. More than anything, he loves his wife and their 5 kids. They try to be good to life and life tends to return the favor.

Sean has worked in online and distance education since 2007, serving to form strong partnerships with diverse entities and lead collaborative development teams in programs and curriculum. He has particular experience in strategic planning and steering committees, outreach and partner relations, project management, training and adult learning, instructional design, and other skills. Sean has passionately served or consulted on several founding boards and collaborative committees designed to bring more authentic learning experiences and career development to young students. Some of these entities include: NASA’s Idaho Science and Aerospace Scholars (founding member), National Engineers Week Future City Competition – Idaho, Business Professionals of America, Technology Student Association, Idaho Professional-Technical Education, Idaho P-Tech partners, iSTEM Summer Institutes, and others.  He loves working with people to solve tough problems and accomplish more – together – for students.

Sean’s professional background traveled through an engineering education after years in mechanics and construction. His heart led him to education and eventually curriculum development when he realized that he actually had something unique to offer the world and that meant millions of others from similar backgrounds had the same potential. He since has dedicated his life to helping others realize their potential and seize the opportunities awaiting them just beyond their sight. Sean has helped to design programs and courses to serve students in high school credit recovery, college concurrent enrollment courses, undergraduate coursework, adult professional development, and everything in between. He has successfully managed and trained multi-departmental project teams, led winning student teams to national competitions and research and career development teams to NASA. He continues to serve on committees and boards that bring such invaluable programs to individuals. Sean is now thrilled to be accelerating his dream to greater heights as a curriculum designer at BYU-Idaho, where the Lord guides a work that is changing the lives of individuals and families in hidden communities across the globe.

Sean is now working on a Master’s degree in Public Administration, which he hopes will open new doors in his career to bring quality education opportunities to more people and communities.
